Highlighting Our Halal Menu

Highlighting Our Halal Menu

In our last post, we took the time to take a step back from talking about our Middle Eastern restaurant in Orlando and all of the deliciousness it has to offer locals and tourists alike in favor of providing our readers with a high-level analysis of the halal diet and its tradition. Although many others have written at length about the topic, we thought it would be a fun and educational opportunity to explain to our readers about what a halal diet is and isn’t. Alcoholic beverages, meat stock, all meat from pigs, lard, and meat from carnivorous animals are haram, or forbidden, by Islamic law.

But rather than rehash what we’ve already discussed in our previous post, we are going to highlight a few of our most popular (and our own favorite) halal menu items we offer here at the Kebab House in Orlando. In our last post, we said we would do that exact thing after we highlighted the halal tradition, but we unfortunately ran out of time. Now that we are back at it, let’s take a look at some of our favorite halal menu items!

Our Halal Menu

The first thing you need to know about the Kabob House and our menu is that we serve Halal meat. Whether you are ordering Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, or Moroccan dishes, you can rest easy that we prepare, store, and use food appropriate for a halal diet.

  • Halal Chicken Tenders with French Fries - $8.99. On our appetizer menu, we offer these Halal Chicken Tenders with French Fries as a great way to start off a multi-course meal here at the Kabob House in Kissimmee, FLA. Seasoned to perfection, this is also a fantastic gateway meal, should there be a member of your family who isn’t quite used to the cuisine we have on offer. The french fries are western enough, and who doesn’t like chicken tenders, especially when they are well-spiced like ours?
  • Tabouli - $5.99. Originally Levantine in tradition, this vegetarian salad we have on offer is made up of chopped parsley, onion, tomatoes, fresh lemon, olive oil, bulgar cracked wheat, and more. Many of our customers like our Tabouli salad because it’s healthy, as it offers fiber, complex carbs, minerals, and is low in fat.
  • Halal Wings - ranging from $5.99 to $9.99. You can get our Halal Wings in sets of four, six, or ten. Choose from mild, medium, hot, BBQ, garlic, or any mixture you want to try! You can also choose from Blue Cheese Dressing and Ranch. These Halal Wings have a great flavor and rival any local wing spot around, in our humble opinion!
  • Meat Shawarma Sandwich, served with French Fries - $6.99. How does thinly sliced Halal meat, rolled in pita bread with Tahini sauce, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce sound? Not bad, right? Perhaps you aren’t familiar with Tahini sauce. It’s a condiment rooted in toasted sesame seeds, and is a primary element in hummus, baba ganoush, and is used in a variety of Middle Eastern dishes. If you have never tried Tahini sauce (the Turkish Tzatziki sauce is much more popular in the west), we consider it an absolute must. Whether you are a fan of shawarma, gyros, kebabs, or something else, we highly recommend trying Tahini sauce out!
